“The burning sand will become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water. Grass with reeds and rushes will be in the habitation of jackals, where they lay.”
What does Isaiah 35:7 mean?
Isaiah is painting a picture of radical transformation, where the driest, most desolate places on earth suddenly overflow with life and water. The jackals' lair, a symbol of abandonment and emptiness, becomes a thriving wetland where vegetation flourishes. This is meant to encourage people living through exile and hardship by showing them that God can completely reverse even the most hopeless situations, turning wastelands into places of abundance and rest. It's a promise that the barren seasons in our lives, however permanent they might feel right now, are not our final story.
