What does Isaiah 32:17 mean?

When we live with integrity and do what's right, something remarkable happens inside us: our minds settle. The constant friction of guilt, compromise, and fear gradually melts away. What Isaiah is describing here isn't a promise that life becomes problem-free, but rather that righteousness produces a deep, internal quietness that no external chaos can completely shake. This peace isn't earned through achievement or self-improvement alone. It's the natural fruit of aligning ourselves with what's good and true. When we're not at war with our own conscience, when we're trying to live honestly and treat others fairly, we can rest in the knowledge that we're moving in the right direction. That confidence, Isaiah promises, isn't temporary or circumstantial, but something that can anchor us permanently.
