Isaiah 30:12
“Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, “Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely on it;”
What does Isaiah 30:12 mean?
God is addressing people who have rejected his counsel and instead put their confidence in corrupt systems and twisted ways of doing things. Rather than listening to what he offers, they've chosen to lean on injustice and deception, thinking these will protect or provide for them. It's a moment where God identifies the root problem: not just that people are suffering, but that they're actively turning away from truth and embracing harmful paths. This verse speaks to something many recognize in themselves or their communities, that stubborn tendency to keep doing what's familiar and comfortable even when we sense it's leading us wrong.
