Isaiah 3:14
“Yahweh will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and their leaders: “It is you who have eaten up the vineyard. The plunder of the poor is in your houses.”
What does Isaiah 3:14 mean?
God is calling out the leaders and elders who claim to care for their community but have actually enriched themselves at everyone else's expense. The vineyard is a picture of the whole nation, which should have flourished and been shared fairly, but instead the powerful have consumed its fruit for themselves. Those plundered goods from poor families are sitting in their own homes, making their guilt impossible to deny. This is Isaiah speaking during a time when Jerusalem's leaders had forgotten that their role was to protect the vulnerable, not exploit them.
