Isaiah 29:15
“Woe to those who deeply hide their counsel from Yahweh, and whose deeds are in the dark, and who say, “Who sees us?” and “Who knows us?””
What does Isaiah 29:15 mean?
When we try to hide things from God, thinking no one will notice or care, we're operating from a dangerous misunderstanding. Isaiah is warning against the kind of secrecy and deception that grows when we forget we're accountable to anyone beyond ourselves, especially to the God who knows us completely. The "woe" here isn't just judgment, it's a compassionate alarm: this path of hiding leads to spiritual emptiness and eventually to being found out anyway. What matters is that God sees us, knows us, and invites us into honesty rather than the exhausting work of concealment.
