Isaiah 28:18
“Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it.”
What does Isaiah 28:18 mean?
Isaiah is speaking to people who've made deals they think will protect them from disaster, but their confidence is misplaced. The "covenant with death" refers to alliances or false securities they're relying on, likely political arrangements they believe will save them from God's judgment. But God is saying those arrangements will collapse when His judgment comes, like flimsy shelter against a devastating flood.
