Isaiah 28:16

Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone of a sure foundation. He who believes shall not act hastily.

What does Isaiah 28:16 mean?

God is promising to establish something solid and trustworthy in Jerusalem, a foundation stone that has been tested and proven reliable. This stone represents Christ, who becomes the secure bedrock for anyone who trusts in Him. When Isaiah says believers "shall not act hastily," he means that faith in this foundation brings stability, patience, and freedom from panic, because you're resting on something genuinely dependable rather than rushing anxiously from one uncertain thing to another. It's a beautiful picture of how trusting in Christ steadies us, especially when life feels chaotic or when we're tempted to grasp at quick fixes that won't actually hold us up.
