Isaiah 28:14
“Therefore hear Yahweh’s word, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem:”
What does Isaiah 28:14 mean?
Isaiah spoke these words to the leaders of Jerusalem who dismissed the prophet's warnings with mockery and arrogance. They were comfortable in their power and saw no need to heed God's call to repentance, treating serious spiritual concerns as beneath their notice. The prophet cuts through their dismissal by insisting they must actually listen, because what God has to say matters whether they want to hear it or not. For anyone today who recognizes themselves in that resistance, this verse gently asks: What warnings might we be ignoring because we're too settled, too confident, or too proud to really listen?
