Isaiah 24:13
βFor it will be so within the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done.β
What does Isaiah 24:13 mean?
Isaiah describes a time of sweeping judgment where only remnants will remain, much like how olive trees are shaken until almost nothing is left on the branches, or how a vineyard looks after the harvest is finished. The image conveys both loss and survival: just as a few olives or grapes always remain after the gathering, a small number of people will endure through the coming upheaval. It's a sobering picture, but one that acknowledges that God's judgment, while thorough, leaves room for those who remain.
