What does Isaiah 22:12 mean?
God was inviting His people to turn away from their casual, stubborn attitude and face the seriousness of what was coming. Wearing sackcloth and shaving your head were signs of deep grief and repentance in that culture, not expressions of despair but acknowledgment that something had gone terribly wrong. The Lord was essentially saying: stop pretending everything is fine, stop your partying and self-indulgence, and come back to me with genuine sorrow for how you've strayed. It's an invitation wrapped in urgency, calling people to the kind of honest, broken-hearted return that might actually change things.
