Isaiah 13:4
“The noise of a multitude is in the mountains, as of a great people; the noise of an uproar of the kingdoms of the nations gathered together! Yahweh of Armies is mustering the army for the battle.”
What does Isaiah 13:4 mean?
Isaiah is describing a massive military force assembling—so many soldiers and nations converging that the mountains themselves seem to echo with the sound of them. The prophet is painting a picture of overwhelming power gathering for something momentous. What makes this verse striking is that all this tremendous human activity, all these kingdoms coordinating their armies, is ultimately being "mustered" by God himself, who directs events according to his purposes rather than being caught off guard by them.
