What does Isaiah 1:3 mean?
God is expressing deep grief here, comparing Israel's unfaithfulness to something worse than animal ignorance. Even livestock recognize who feeds and cares for them, yet God's own people have forgotten the God who sustained them through generations. The prophet is saying that Israel has become spiritually unconscious, no longer even pausing to think about their relationship with the one who made them and keeps them alive. It's a portrait of what happens when we drift so far from gratitude and awareness that we become less responsive than creatures who simply know where their next meal comes from.
