What does Isaiah 1:28 mean?
Isaiah speaks here about the natural consequences of turning away from God, not as arbitrary punishment but as what happens when people build their lives on a foundation that won't hold. When we reject what's good and true, we inevitably create our own undoing, whether through broken relationships, compromised integrity, or spiritual emptiness. The phrase "transgressors and sinners shall be destroyed together" suggests that this isn't about God singling out certain people as worse than others, but rather describing a universal principle: separation from God leads to ruin. It's spoken to Isaiah's own people, the Israelites, who were turning to idols and injustice instead of trusting God.
