Hosea 7:2
“They don’t consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness. Now their own deeds have engulfed them. They are before my face.”
What does Hosea 7:2 mean?
God is telling Israel that he doesn't forget their unfaithfulness, even when they forget or ignore it themselves. The people have become so wrapped up in their own harmful choices that those choices have become inescapable, surrounding them completely. And in all of it, God sees them clearly, not turning away but remaining present and aware of everything happening. There's something both sobering and tender here. The message is that our actions have real consequences we can't outrun, but it's also delivered by a God who doesn't pretend not to notice or suddenly look away. He's fully present to the situation, which for people genuinely seeking restoration means there's still someone there to turn back toward.
