Hosea 6:7
“But they, like Adam, have broken the covenant. They were unfaithful to me, there.”
What does Hosea 6:7 mean?
God is comparing Israel's broken promises to his very first covenant with humanity through Adam in the Garden of Eden. Just as Adam disobeyed God's command not to eat from the forbidden tree, Israel has repeatedly turned away from following God despite their agreement to do so. The comparison cuts deep because it shows that Israel's unfaithfulness isn't a small slip-up, but a fundamental breaking of trust, much like humanity's original rebellion. What makes this especially painful is that God is pointing out how the people he chose and loved have chosen the same path of disobedience that separated all of humanity from him in the beginning.
