What does Hosea 5:4 mean?
When we're caught in patterns that distance us from God, sometimes those very patterns become the chains that hold us there. Hosea is describing people so entangled in unfaithfulness and empty pursuits that they've lost the ability (or willingness) to turn back, even when they might want to. The "spirit of prostitution" doesn't just mean sexual unfaithfulness; it represents chasing after false gods and broken promises, letting those desires shape everything they do.
