Hosea 5:13
““When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, Then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to king Jareb: but he is not able to heal you, neither will he cure you of your wound.”
What does Hosea 5:13 mean?
When the northern kingdom of Ephraim faced trouble, they looked everywhere except to God for help, running to the powerful empire of Assyria instead. It's like going to a doctor who can't actually heal you, hoping his impressive reputation will somehow save you anyway. The prophet Hosea is saying that turning away from God in your crisis and seeking solutions from the world will only leave you more broken than before. The wound needs real healing, and only God can provide it, but Ephraim kept choosing the wrong source.
