Hosea 4:8
“They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity.”
What does Hosea 4:8 mean?
God is describing religious leaders who have become spiritually corrupt, profiting from and even encouraging the very sins they should be helping people overcome. Rather than guiding people toward righteousness, they've grown comfortable with wrongdoing because it benefits them somehow, whether through money, power, or influence. Their hearts have become attached to the people's failures instead of broken by them. This captures something painfully human: when we benefit from others' struggles, it becomes dangerously easy to stop wanting them to heal. If you're in a position of trust with someone, this is a sobering reminder to check your own heart about whether you're truly serving their good or subtly invested in keeping them stuck.
