What does Hosea 2:4 mean?
God is describing the painful consequences that will fall on the children of someone who has turned away from him. The imagery is stark: just as a parent might withdraw care from children born of infidelity, God will withdraw his protection from those who have chosen to abandon their covenant relationship with him. This isn't arbitrary cruelty but the natural result of broken trust. The prophet Hosea uses this difficult language to convey something important about faithfulness and covenant.
