What does Hosea 11:10 mean?
When God "roars like a lion," Hosea isn't describing something terrifying in the harsh sense, but rather a powerful call that demands attention and draws people toward him. The image suggests both God's strength and his role as protector, like a lion's roar that summons the pride home. Even though the children come "trembling," there's hope embedded in the picture: they're responding, they're coming back, moving from spiritual distance ("the west," representing exile or separation) toward their shepherd.
