What does Hebrews 9:3 mean?
The tabernacle (the tent where God's people worshiped in the wilderness) had two main rooms separated by a heavy curtain, or veil. Behind that second veil was the innermost chamber, the Holy of Holies, where God's presence was believed to dwell most directly. Only the high priest could enter this sacred space, and only once a year on the Day of Atonement, approaching with both reverence and fear. This layout reflected how separated sinful people felt from a holy God, though it also offered a pathway for reconciliation through a designated priest and sacrifice.
