Hebrews 9:15
“For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, since a death has occurred for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, that those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.”
What does Hebrews 9:15 mean?
When we break a promise or harm someone, we need someone to stand between us and the consequences, to negotiate peace on our behalf. That's what a mediator does. The writer of Hebrews is saying that Jesus serves this role for all of us, but in the deepest possible way. His death actually paid the price for all the wrongs we've done, which means we're no longer trapped under the old system of rules that could only point out our failures. Instead, we're invited into something entirely new: a restored relationship with God and an inheritance (a future and a home) that lasts forever. The beautiful part is that this isn't based on our own efforts or perfection, but on what Jesus has already accomplished. If you're carrying guilt or feeling distant from God, this promise is that the barrier between you and Him has already been removed.
