What does Hebrews 9:12 mean?
Jesus didn't need to repeat the sacrifices that the Jewish priests performed year after year in the temple—those animal sacrifices were temporary fixes for sin. Instead, he walked into God's presence once, permanently, through the sacrifice of himself, and that single act secured our freedom from sin forever. The writer of Hebrews is telling us that Jesus's sacrifice was complete in a way no animal offering could ever be, so we don't need to keep trying to earn God's favor through rituals or repeated acts. That work is finished, and it's available to everyone who trusts in him.
