What does Hebrews 9:10 mean?
The writer of Hebrews is describing the old Jewish ceremonial laws, rules about what to eat and drink and how to cleanse yourself ritually. These practices were meant to govern the body and external behavior, but they couldn't transform what was happening on the inside, in a person's heart and relationship with God. The author is saying these rules had an expiration date, an appointed time when something better would come, and that time arrived with Jesus. The point isn't that the old laws were meaningless, but that they were preparing God's people for a deeper, spiritual reality that goes far beyond external rules and rituals.
