What does Hebrews 8:1 mean?

The writer of Hebrews is stepping back to make sure we understand what matters most: Jesus sits at God's right hand in heaven, honored and powerful. Sitting down (rather than standing) means his work is finished and complete, not something that needs to be done over and over. This positioning at God's right hand is the highest place of authority and closeness you could imagine, and it's where Jesus intercedes for us, representing our needs before God himself. When life feels overwhelming or our own prayers feel small, knowing that Jesus holds this position of honor and is actively advocating for us is meant to give us deep confidence.
