What does Hebrews 4:3 mean?
When we truly trust God, we step into a kind of rest that's already been prepared for us, even though many people throughout history have missed it by refusing to believe. The quote here refers back to when God was frustrated with the Israelites in the wilderness who kept doubting him despite seeing his miracles. The beautiful paradox at the end is that God's rest isn't something he's still working to create, it's been part of his plan since before time began, waiting for those willing to receive it. This rest isn't primarily about physical laziness, but about releasing the exhausting grip of trying to earn God's favor through our own effort, and instead trusting that his work is already complete.
