What does Hebrews 3:2 mean?

This verse compares Jesus to Moses, saying both were faithful to God in carrying out what he gave them to do. For the Jewish readers of Hebrews, Moses was the greatest figure imaginable—the lawgiver and deliverer—so this comparison shows that Jesus deserves at least as much respect and trust. The writer is essentially saying: if you honored Moses for his faithfulness, recognize that Jesus displayed that same faithfulness, and then some, in accomplishing God's purpose for humanity.
