What does Hebrews 2:3 mean?
The writer is asking a pointed question: if we brush aside or ignore the incredible gift of salvation that Jesus brought, what protection could we possibly have from judgment? The message came first from Jesus himself, and then was passed on faithfully by people who actually knew him and witnessed his resurrection. There's a sense of urgency here, not meant to frighten but to wake us up to what we're really deciding when we turn away from or neglect what God offers. The writer assumes that something this significant, delivered by Jesus and confirmed by reliable witnesses, deserves our serious attention and response.
