What does Hebrews 11:31 mean?
Rahab was a woman living in Jericho who made an extraordinary choice: when Israelite spies came to her home, she could have turned them in to protect herself, but instead she hid them and helped them escape. Her decision came from faith that God's purposes were real and worth risking her life for. When the city fell to the Israelites, she and her family were spared while everyone else in Jericho perished, because she had acted on what she believed. What makes her story so powerful for us is that she wasn't part of Israel's covenant community, and her past wasn't spotless, yet she's held up here as an example of genuine faith. She saw enough of God's power working in the world to stake everything on it, and that trust changed everything for her. The passage reminds us that faith isn't about being perfect or having all the answers first, it's about responding to what we sense of God's character with courage and action.
