What does Hebrews 10:32 mean?
The writer of Hebrews is reminding his struggling community of their own resilience. These believers had already walked through genuine hardship after first encountering faith, and they came through it. He's not minimizing what they faced then or face now, but rather pointing to the strength they've already discovered within themselves. This matters because when we're tired or discouraged, we often forget that we've been through hard things before and survived them. The "enlightenment" here means their initial encounter with Jesus and his truth, which gave them a foundation to stand on even when suffering came. The writer is essentially saying: you've done this before, you found your footing then, and that same source of courage is still available to you now.
