What does Hebrews 10:16 mean?

God is promising something deeply personal here: instead of keeping his laws at a distance (carved on stone tablets, written in books), he will place them directly within our hearts and minds. This means his guidance becomes internal, something we naturally want to follow rather than feel forced to obey. The writer of Hebrews is drawing on an Old Testament prophecy to show that through Jesus, God moves from external rules to transformed hearts, making obedience something that flows from love rather than obligation. It's the difference between a rulebook on a shelf and a compass inside you pointing toward what's good.
