Haggai 2:9

What does Haggai 2:9 mean?
When the Jewish people returned from exile to rebuild their temple, many of the older ones wept because it looked so much smaller and simpler than Solomon's grand original temple. God speaks through Haggai to tell them not to despair, because the true glory of this rebuilt house won't come from gold or marble, but from something far more valuable: the presence of God and the peace that comes with it. This promise ultimately points to something even greater than the physical building. When Jesus came to teach and heal, he became the true temple where God's glory dwells, and he brought the kind of deep peace that no amount of architectural splendor could offer.
