Genesis 9:10

and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the livestock, and every animal of the earth with you, of all that go out of the ship, even every animal of the earth.

What does Genesis 9:10 mean?

After the flood, God is speaking to Noah about the covenant he's making, and he's being very clear that this promise isn't just for humans, but extends to all the animals that survived the ark with Noah's family. God is saying the covenant includes the birds, the livestock, and every creature that will spread across the earth again, all the animals Noah brought out of the ship. What's striking here is how inclusive God's care is, even in a moment focused on humanity's fresh start. The animals matter to God and are part of his promise of restoration. For those of us who love animals or who are grieving creation, this is a reminder that God's heart encompasses all living things, not just people.
