Genesis 50:16
“They sent a message to Joseph, saying, “Your father commanded before he died, saying,”
What does Genesis 50:16 mean?
Joseph's brothers are about to ask him for forgiveness, but they're nervous about doing it directly. So they claim their father Jacob left a deathbed instruction asking Joseph to forgive them. Whether Jacob actually said this or not, we can feel the anxiety in their words, their reaching for any reason Joseph might let go of old grudges. It's a very human moment, showing how we sometimes struggle to ask for forgiveness face-to-face, especially when there's a long history of hurt. What happens next shows us whether Joseph has truly moved past what his brothers did to him years before.
