Genesis 49:25
“even by the God of your father, who will help you; by the Almighty, who will bless you, with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.”
What does Genesis 49:25 mean?
Jacob speaks these words near the end of his life, blessing his son Joseph with an abundance that flows from every direction. He's invoking God as the source of every good thing, from the sky above to the earth below, from physical health and vitality to the capacity to bear children and build a family. The poetic language here captures something real about how blessings come to us, not through one narrow channel but through many overlapping ways. A full life includes provision from nature, strength in our bodies, and the joy of relationships and legacy.
