What does Genesis 46:10 mean?
Jacob's son Simeon had six sons, and this verse lists their names as his family line moved to Egypt during the famine. One of these sons, Shaul, had a Canaanite mother rather than an Israelite one, which the text notes explicitly, perhaps because intermarriage with local people was uncommon enough to mention or because Shaul's descendants remained notable in the family record.
