Genesis 45:18
“Take your father and your households, and come to me, and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and you will eat the fat of the land.’”
What does Genesis 45:18 mean?
Joseph has just revealed himself to his brothers after years of separation, and here he's inviting them to bring their whole family to Egypt where he now holds power. The "fat of the land" is an old expression meaning the richest, most abundant resources, so he's essentially offering them security, prosperity, and a fresh start. This moment shows Joseph extending generosity and forgiveness to the very people who once sold him into slavery. It's a beautiful reminder that when we find ourselves in a position to help those who've hurt us, choosing grace and provision can heal broken relationships in ways that anger never could.
