Genesis 44:19

What does Genesis 44:19 mean?
Judah is speaking here, recounting what Joseph (disguised as an Egyptian official) asked them earlier. The question seems simple on the surface, but it carries real weight in this story. Joseph is trying to understand the family structure of these Hebrew men who came to Egypt seeking grain during a famine. What makes this moment significant is that Joseph already knows the answer to his own question, since he's actually their brother whom they sold into slavery years ago. He's testing them to see if they'll be honest about Benjamin, their youngest brother, and whether they've changed from the cruel men they once were.
