“and the plenty will not be known in the land by reason of that famine which follows; for it will be very grievous.”
What does Genesis 41:31 mean?
The abundance Joseph had predicted will be completely forgotten once the severe famine arrives. When people are desperate and starving, the memory of good years fades away, and all they can think about is their immediate hunger and survival. This is why Joseph's warning to Pharaoh matters so much—if they don't prepare now by storing grain during the seven years of plenty, the crisis ahead will be almost unbearable.
