What does Genesis 41:21 mean?
Pharaoh is describing a troubling dream to Joseph: seven healthy cows were swallowed by seven starving cows, yet the starving cows looked no better afterward, still gaunt and worn. It's a dream logic that defies natural explanation, which is exactly what makes it unsettling. The image suggests something consuming everything without satisfaction or change, which Joseph will interpret as a coming famine that will devour Egypt's abundance without relief.
