What does Genesis 39:15 mean?

Potiphar's wife is lying to her husband about Joseph, claiming he tried to assault her. She's using the garment Joseph left behind (when he fled her advances) as false evidence of his guilt. Her story is designed to make her look like the victim and turn her husband against the innocent man who had actually refused her advances and run away to avoid sin. This moment shows how quickly truth can be twisted, and how those with power and proximity to authority can weaponize lies. Joseph did the right thing by rejecting temptation and fleeing, but his righteousness didn't protect him from suffering the consequences of someone else's deception. It's a painful reminder that living faithfully doesn't guarantee that life will go smoothly or that people will treat us fairly.
