What does Genesis 38:20 mean?
Judah had made a promise to pay a woman (actually his daughter-in-law Tamar in disguise) for intimate relations, leaving his seal and staff as security. Now he's trying to make good on his word by sending his friend with a young goat as payment. The problem is that the woman has disappeared, and his friend can't locate her to return the pledged items and settle the debt. This moment captures Judah in a vulnerable position.
