Simeon and Levi, brothers of Dinah, speak these words in defense of their violent revenge after a man named Shechem assaults their sister. They're arguing that their drastic response was justified, because allowing such harm to go unanswered would be treating their sister as though she had no value, no family honor, no protection. Their question reflects how deeply wounded they are by both the assault and their father's initial passivity about it.
