What does Genesis 31:22 mean?
Jacob had been running from his father-in-law Laban for three days before anyone thought to tell Laban what had happened. By that point, Jacob and his entire household (wives, children, servants, and livestock) had already covered significant ground heading back toward his homeland. The delay in news reaching Laban meant Jacob gained crucial time and distance, which would matter greatly in the tense confrontation that was about to unfold between them. Sometimes what feels like a small detail, a gap in communication or a delayed message, becomes exactly what someone needs when they're trying to escape a difficult situation.
