Genesis 31:1
“He heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s. He has obtained all this wealth from that which was our father’s.””
What does Genesis 31:1 mean?
Jacob has worked faithfully for his father-in-law Laban for twenty years, building considerable wealth in the process. Laban's sons, who stand to inherit their father's property, are growing resentful and spreading rumors that Jacob has stolen what belongs to their family.
