Genesis 29:1
“Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the children of the east.”
What does Genesis 29:1 mean?
Jacob is beginning a new chapter of his life, having fled from his angry brother Esau after stealing his blessing. He travels toward Mesopotamia (the "land of the children of the east"), where his uncle Laban lives, and this journey marks the start of everything that will eventually lead to his twelve sons and the founding of Israel. The verse captures a moment of movement and transition, showing Jacob setting out toward an uncertain future that God has promised to guide.
