What does Genesis 27:26 mean?
Isaac has been deceived by his younger son Jacob, who disguised himself as his older brother Esau to steal the family blessing. Despite having just given away what he thought was his most precious gift, Isaac asks for a kiss from the person he believes is his firstborn. There's something both tender and tragic in this moment: Isaac extends affection and intimacy even as he's been manipulated, showing how deeply he loves his sons regardless of circumstances. For many of us, this captures something true about how love persists even when we've been hurt or disappointed, and how a simple gesture of closeness can matter more than getting everything right.
