What does Genesis 24:60 mean?

When Rebekah's family sends her off to marry Isaac, they speak this blessing over her as a final farewell. It's a prayer that she'll have countless descendants and that her family line will be strong enough to overcome their enemies and take control of important places (the "gate" was where power and authority were held in ancient cities). The blessing reflects the deep hope her loved ones had for her future and their belief that God would make her life fruitful and significant. Even though she's leaving home, they're affirming that something great will come from her, which must have been both encouraging and a little bittersweet as she journeys to a new life with a stranger.
