What does Genesis 24:39 mean?
Abraham's servant is in the middle of a difficult mission: find a wife for Isaac from among Abraham's relatives back in his homeland. He's already traveled far from home with expensive gifts and a specific task, so this question reveals a real anxiety. What if he does all this work and the woman refuses to come? It's a surprisingly human moment in Scripture. The servant is faithful and obedient, yet he's still wrestling with uncertainty about whether his efforts will actually work out. His master Abraham responds with reassurance, which points to something true for all of us: sometimes faithfulness means moving forward even when we can't see how everything will fall into place. The woman (Rebekah) does say yes, but the servant didn't know that when he voiced his worry. That's the quiet courage faith often requires.
