Genesis 24:35

Yahweh has blessed my master greatly. He has become great. He has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, male servants and female servants, and camels and donkeys.

What does Genesis 24:35 mean?

Abraham's servant is telling Rebekah's family about the remarkable abundance God has given to Abraham, his master. The list of possessions here wasn't just about wealth for its own sake, but about security, influence, and the ability to care for a large household in that ancient world. What's striking is that the servant attributes all of it directly to God's blessing, not to Abraham's own cleverness or hard work alone. This reminds us that when things go well in our lives, recognizing God's hand in it keeps us grateful rather than proud, and it helps us remember that what we have is ultimately a gift, not something we earned entirely on our own.
